"...the Daisys at play--OOPS!..."

Daisy-Irene was chasing Daisy-Mae through my garden as I surveyed the downed fencing when all of a sudden I heard a SPLASH! Daisy-Mae, 18 week old bloodhound extraordinaire, fell into James and Jim's (my two 9 year old goldfish) pool...because she thought it was still FROZEN, the
poor baby girl! As she clamored out, soaked tip-to-tip, I started toward her with condolences... ...and as soon as I got to her, she shook and shook and shook all that slimy fish water off of her onto me. Blech! But rather than chastising Daisy, I called to her as I ran to our camper where I got a towel and dried her off. For some reason, it initially kind of scared her but once Miss Daisy realized she was getting The Big Rub, she relaxed and began that sonorous, bloodhound happy-moan. Pure, simple, beautiful.

And then there's Daisy-Irene, the eldest of the Daisys. She was the 'hare' that led the hound we know as Daisy, right into our fish pool. I've seen her do it to Jason and Lexi, when they lived here. She's about eleven months old (spayed and vax'd) and she is a crafty minx. She's the kind of dog who watches you give another dog a treat and as soon as you walk away, she'll turn and snatch it from their mouth, literally--and there's no fight! She takes toys while others are playing with them, no matter how much fun they're having--and there's no fight! However, she's a bit flipped out since returning from the (lovely) home she was adopted to a couple of months ago. It seems their neighbor's Lab repeatedly jumped their fence in order to jump Daisy-Irene every time she went out to potty, and she went dotty! No more outside potty girl was she as every excursion "out there" turned into a full frontal assault every time. At least in her mind. So now we work on rebuilding a sense of safety and confidence from within Daisy-Irene. She's an Amazon at heart so she'll be alright...
