"...our day of doing nothing..."
The guy who adopted Margie from me almost two years ago (see "the pack" page, click on the photo of Margie the Scottie walking around in the water in the sky-blue kid pool to know the beginning of her life with me...) has to bring her back. Margie doesn't dig his new fiance's dog.
So it seems Margie "loses"--but
does she really? Margie had the city life (Indianapolis) for a spell (15 months); now she gets to come back here to the land of the free dog. That's tomorrow. New details to follow of her reunification with the land, the pack and with me.
Today the sun finally shone. All the dogs slept in it most of the day, almost enough clouds to keep them in the same place from morning till night but not quite. By 4pm everyone was looking for shade, or a spot in front of the box fans. Not one of us seems remotely interested in going on even one of our two daily walkies. My fatigue has permeated my bones. I've worked my tail off this week. From masses amounts of doggie laundry (lots of rain here and
sodden blankies are the aftermath) done over on Paoli Pike to refilling drinking water gallons at the grocery, to yesterday's loading/hauling twenty bales of cedar shavings from Georgetown Feed and Seed (812.951.2727--they're wonderful!) back home and before the storms came that night(again), I spread it all behind and beneath the camper. Then I unloaded the 400 pounds of dog food from the truck onto the porch. I went to the Cloud's house and cleaned my room, taking a cold but soapy shower (all that cedar dust!) and after making a pot of simmering vegetable soup (in a sauteed garlic and diced tomato base) I came back to do a little writing here.
Last night as I flossed, the temporary crown for my #19 tooth came off. Dentists and periodontal surgeons are essentially going to define my summer. As a result of this latest dental dilemma, my gum area around this tooth is quite unhappy tonight, as it's been all day, thus soup and other soft foods in my diet. I'm using a product my dentist gave me, a 20%benzocaine paste that you "imbed" in the unhappy gum with a Q-Tip which renders it completely numb, at least for while. #19's earlier application is wearing off so off I go to apply more...and more...and more. This poor tooth. Broken, forlorn and about to be wrangled with drills, scalpels and pliers within days. I must have nitrous. I can't be conscious for this ordeal.
