"...and a week later it's snowing!..."

We're all cuddled up inside the camper, the heater doing it's job along with the Downy-rinsed dog bedding, so soft and fragrant.  It's COLD outside!  37* at 9:25pm and it's been snowing lightly for two hours.  My desk is against two windows and it's wonderful having the view of the hills and trees while I sit here.  I've started using an extra large exercise ball as my "chair".  It's great for my back.

I'm ready to move, I'm decided. I need to have a fundraiser to raise $10-15,000 for the transition fencing in 20 acres, dog-proofing the cabin, getting necessary equipment from hoses to lawn mowers to gravel for the long driveway).

I need my friend, Rachel Seed (the incredible artist/photo/videographer, check her beautiful website http://www.rachelseed.com/) to come shoot a video for YouTube, Facebook and Twitter (does Twitter do video?) where I explain the whole New Dawn for Save That Dog Sanctuary.  Maybe I can go ahead and start it myself with the intermittently-functioning SONY HandyCam (it takes the teeny cassettes), loaned to me by beautiful, generous, scary P.K.  Sometimes it works, other times: bleh.  But I can shoot the B-roll stuff now.  This place, it's camper, the new place, it's cabin and dogs, dogs, dogs.  I have archives!

I was approached by another friend this week who suggested that I sell my land to a funeral home where they would open the only Natural Burial Sanctuary in our region.  Most people hate the thought of embalming, while others can't fathom being cremated; this would be a legal alternative to both of those, barring any religious convictions (although you could be cremated and have your ashes scattered here as well).  People could bury their animals here, too. All this and MUCH less expensive than the norm.  I mean, we all know that our little planet is running out of real land and why not "recycle" after we die?

The basic premise is that after your funeral you are placed in a biodegradable box and buried where your remains are treated organically, in land that is protected as a Sanctuary.  You can have a plaque rather than an expensive headstone, and/or plant a beautiful tree/shrub where every Spring you bloom.  There's no other place like mine around here; geographically, topographically, spiritually.  It could be done...bit it will have to be by someone else although I can initiate the process. Every time I turn around, there's a new prospect in front of me.

Ultimately, all I want is to continue rescuing dogs (or any critter in need, as you know) until the day I die.  No toxic personalities, no mad world, no clutter.  Just me and my menagerie, that's all.

UPDATE: 1 INCH OF SNOW at 11pm!
